Community Engagement

AYC works throughout Austin as a team and individually in a variety of ways:

Governance

AYC enters governance spaces to advocate and offer our perspectives to organizations within the Continuum of Care (CoC) based on our lived expertise. Governance spaces give us the opportunity to create change on a systemic level through participating in shaping the practices and procedures of the Homelessness Response System (HRS).

Connection Building

Collaborative efforts to connect the AYC with outside organizations are an important part of membership. We work with multiple organizations in  Austin and help bridge their efforts to one another. Some examples of this include supporting outside projects, attending conferences, connecting resources to one another, advising organizations, and working with individuals in the community.

AYC Projects

Our team also has the opportunity to work on our own projects if we decide to take the initiative to pursue them with the support of ECHO staff.  They vary from fundraising, organizing events, creating films and workshops, public speaking or advocating for sanctioned encampment spaces. If we can dream it, we can do it.
